Results: 16th and the first guy to not go out for #7.
6 laps =~30 very hard miles.
2 lap (3:50:08.64): 0:32:11.68 0:32:44.23 0:45:19.30 0:36:05.53 0:39:18.10 0:44:29.80
Felt like a great race. Fast couple of early laps. Climbed exceptionally well. Knee didn't really hurt but left is starting to bother a little more. Sort of validated the notion that I don't belong in sport as I was riding with the younger guys and the older ones didn't come around. Need to bleed the Juicy 7s – quite annoying. Unlike Camp Hilbert, my shoulders and arms don't hurt at all. Much better bike. Fuel was 1 hour bottles of Perpetuem and a little Hammer Gel. I didn't have the courage to go out on the 7th lap, but seriously had no brakes by the end of the day. Weather was ok but the course was extremely wet. Flatted on the 3rd lap.
Finishing lap 6, I was up by 1:34 and 3:48 on the two guys who ultimately finished ahead of me because they managed to get out for the 7th lap.Additionally, based on the Sport Male 40-44 finishes it is reasonable to think I would have been at least 2nd. My first two laps were faster than the #2 guy and if I hadn't flatted....Plus, that was enduro pace. In the Expert Male Master 40-49, I probably would have been down in 15th or so behind Chris Clarke.
